MAGICSHOT — TWO DECADES OF EXISTENCE
Founded in 2004 as a Counter-Strike team, MAGICSHOT was created by gamers at a time when gaming in Portugal was still taking its first steps. Between 2004 and 2010, we participated in and helped build the national competitive landscape.
We went beyond competition. We decided to focus our operations on creating a community of gamers that brought together thousands of people online simultaneously. We created servers for various games, built a website and a voice server where we would meet and chat in group calls for hours. During this period, we also began organizing online and in-person events, giving real life to our virtual experience.
We began professionalizing the project to work in a structured way in an industry that was still poorly defined in the country, where we felt we could contribute. We started dreaming about how to take the next steps and developed the first event and activation models according to what we thought would be the future of themed events in Portugal.
Together with the Pokémon GO Lisboa community group, we organized walks and community events for Pokémon GO in Lisbon and across the country, bringing together thousands of participants. We were also present at Feira dos Frutos in Caldas da Rainha. In 2017, we organized the first Pokémon GO RAID PARTY at Campo Grande gardens, with the support of Nintendo Portugal.
Together with Rock in Rio, we launched the first gaming arena inside a music festival in Portugal. Since then, we have worked continuously in the industry, partnering with various brands, municipalities, and other entities to deliver the various formats we have developed over time.
We created the MagicShot Gaming Festival in Loures — the first festival fully conceived and produced by the brand. That same year, we produced the gaming area at EXPOFACIC in Cantanhede, operated the Lenovo Legion stand at Moche XL Games World, and co-produced Worten Game City with Rock in Rio Lisboa.
During the pandemic, we made Techdays Aveiro happen — the only gaming event held in Portugal that year, with approval from the Directorate-General of Health and strict compliance with health regulations. The gaming area expanded from a section of a hall to an entire 5,000 m² pavilion.
We created and produced the Oeiras Gaming Show at Taguspark, with over 10,000 m² of indoor and outdoor areas and free admission.
We produced content and supported the operation of the Game Square at Rock in Rio Lisboa, including an activation for the launch of the Elvis film in partnership with Cinemundo and Warner Bros. We inaugurated the gaming arena at AmadoraBD, operated the PcComponentes stand at Iberanime, and organized the Leiria Gaming Weekend.
We took on the design, production, and operation of the POPTOP Festival Lisboa, together with TVI and CNN Portugal, at Pavilhão Carlos Lopes. In 2025, we designed, built, and operated the Instituto Piaget stand at Futurália.
We decided to reinvent ourselves. With the growing importance that pop culture has taken in our daily lives, we decided it made sense to make a new upgrade, expanding our range to officially embrace all elements of pop culture — movies, games, series, anime — while continuing to innovate in video games and esports.
This story of more than two decades is, above all, marked by the passion of all those who built the path with us. We are a movement. A group of people who believe that, together, we can build a more exciting world to live in.
